Synopsis: In the technologically advanced year 2022 A.D., every kid owns a high performance pet robot with artificial intelligence called Medabot. Medabot is a pet-robot that moves and thinks on its own initiative. These toys are sold as companions for kids of all ages. A popular pastime for kids to have their medabot compete in a robot battle otherwise known as "Robattle". Ikki, a high-spirited junior high school student, while daydreaming about one day owning his own medabot and becoming a robattle champion, finds a medal in the river, This medal was stolen by the famous Phantom Renegade and accidentally dropped into the river during his getaway. Due to a lack of funds, Ikki ends up purchasing an out-of-date KBT type medabot. When he inserts the medal that he found in the river into the tin-pet, Metabee is activated. To Ikki's surprise the medal turns out to be a rare medal that gives Metabee super-robot abilities. Medabots tend to mirror the personality traits of their owners. In this case, Metabee is sometimes selfish; hot-tempered arrogant and disobedient, just like Ikki. But with each robattle, Ikki and Metabee's trust in each other grows along with their battling expertise.
